AI Tools for Journalists Workshop in Adana
On Saturday, May 16, 2026, I took part in the “AI Tools for Journalists” workshop organized by TGS Academy in Adana.
The workshop focused on how journalists can use basic AI tools in their everyday professional routines. We discussed practical uses of AI in news research, text production, summarization, verification, visual content creation, and digital safety.
The session also addressed key risks and responsibilities that come with AI use in journalism, including accuracy, source verification, copyright, privacy, and editorial accountability. The main idea was not to present AI as a replacement for journalists, but as a supporting tool that can help with research, preparation, editing, and content production.
The event featured Banu Tuna, Secretary General of TGS; Elif Ergin, TGS Lawyer; and me as an academic contributor.

At a time when journalism is undergoing rapid digital transformation, AI literacy has become increasingly important for media professionals. I was pleased to meet colleagues in Adana and discuss how to use these tools critically, responsibly, and creatively in journalistic work.
