Two related appointments occurred in the last couple of weeks. I was first recommended to join the UNESCO Türkiye National Commission Communication Experts Panel (UTMK).
Then my esteemed colleague Serhan Ada decided to retire, though he will still teach a few classes in our doctoral program.
Serhan Ada is a prominent Turkish poet, writer, and academic. He was born on October 15, 1955, in İzmir, Turkey. Ada has made significant contributions to the fields of literature and education. Ada has been involved in developing cultural policies and has participated in international seminars and lectures across various countries, including Spain, Lebanon, and Italy. His work emphasizes the importance of culture in urban development and community engagement.
I am honored to share that, after his departure, I will chair the UNESCO Chair in Cultural Policy & Diplomacy at İstanbul Bilgi University, which he founded.
