President Erdoğan said that he didn’t look at the idea of a monitoring committee to the resolution of the Kurdish problem positively. The member names, on the other hand, are still unknown and pending clarification.
Abdullah Ocalan, the jailed leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, urged his group to hold a congress in the spring to end the insurgency.
“One of the steps to make concerning the resolution process is to form a monitoring committee. We have a roadmap,” Vice PM Bülent Arınç said as he spoke positively on Öcalan’s Newroz message.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has avoided thorny issues related to Turkey’s Kurdish peace bid during his speech in a western Turkish city, confined himself to congratulating Nevruz with broad remarks. Police detained 11 people before his March 21 speech.
