T24 is the latest victim in Internet Restrictions in 2026

T24 is just so mainstream. It is a pity that it was banned yesterday. Turkish authorities were very generous in censoring web sources in 2026.

T24 news site shut down over ‘LGBT propaganda

Below is a source-checked list of identified targets, not a claim that these are every 2026 restriction.[ifade.org][bianet][ifade.org]

predict.funThe prediction-market domain was blocked on 25 August on illegal-betting grounds. [ifade.org]

That table deliberately excludes Discord and Wattpad: their reported platform-wide blocks began before 2026, even if they remained relevant during the year. It also excludes Roblox because reports conflict about whether access was restored in June 2026.[ifade.org][hurriyet.com][kopazar]

Social-media accounts

These are identifiable 2026 targets. “Ordered blocked” and “withheld in Türkiye” are different statuses: a court order may precede, or never result in, a platform making an account invisible to Turkish users.[cumhuriyet.com][ifade.org]

PeriodAccounts or groups identified
March–AprilAn Ekrem İmamoğlu presidential-campaign-office X account received a March blocking order, but EngelliWeb said X had not yet withheld it when reported. İstanbul Yargılıyor’s Instagram account was withheld following an April decision. [ifade.org][halktv.com]
June–JulyAccounts associated with the dating platforms listed above were targeted in June; X withheld the platforms’ X accounts. Fatma Soydaş’s Instagram and TikTok accounts were withheld in July. soL Haber’s main X account was blocked in July and withheld days later. [bianet][ifade.org][haber.sol.org]
August–early SeptemberAlparslan Kuytul’s X, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube accounts were among those targeted in August. EngelliWeb also recorded orders affecting the X accounts of journalists Nasuh Bektaş and Fırat Fıstık and Mezopotamya Ajansı; further orders targeted accounts including Aile Dayanışma Ağı and soL Haber in September. [ifade.org][ifade.org][ifade.org]
12–17 SeptemberOrders targeted Kaos GL, Velvele, LGBTİ+ organisations and university groups, followed by accounts including Evrensel, Amnesty International Türkiye, Academics for Peace, MLSA, İrfan Değirmenci and Şirin Payzın. In the initial group, 14 X accounts were withheld, while blocking orders for 11 Instagram accounts had not yet been implemented when reported. The Istanbul prosecutor’s office separately announced restrictions concerning 419 accounts and one link; that figure should not be added to other reported batches without checking for overlap. [haberler][bianet]
22–30 SeptemberEngelliWeb and news reports identified batches tied in part to discussion of the financial-market “fund crisis,” including journalists, economists, academics, lawyers and news outlets. Named targets include Uğur Gürses, Kısa Dalga, Hilmi Hacaloğlu, Veysel Ulusoy, Yaman Akdeniz and İris Cibre. EngelliWeb reported at least 250 X accounts targeted on 24 September and at least 147 more on 30 September; those daily figures are not a verified unique-person total. [thenextweb][ifade.org][ifade.org][dw]
30 September–1 OctoberT24’s social accounts were included in the order against the outlet. On 1 October, an order was also reported against EngelliWeb’s X account, but the account had not yet been withheld by X at the time of that report. [ifade.org][haberler]

The EngelliWeb case archive, which was also blocked today, is the best starting point for collecting the remaining individual entries.[ifade.org]
