Even the pro-Trump news outlets refused to sign…

According to multiple reports, five Turkish journalists signed the U.S. Department of Defense’s new accreditation document allowing them continued press access to the Pentagon in October 2025.

As of mid-October 2025, the following journalists were among the fifteen remaining who accepted the new Pentagon press rules:

  • One correspondent from Akşam, a Turkish pro-government daily

  • Three reporters from Anadolu Agency (AA), Turkey’s state-run news service

  • Two freelance Turkish journalists, likely working for foreign-affiliated or independent digital outlets.obrag+1

No specific individual names have been publicly released by either the Pentagon or Turkish media organizations. Reports from The Washington Post, Yahoo News, and OB Rag state that the accredited Turkish participants represented official or pro-government institutions rather than opposition media figures.yahoo+2

Reporters who refused to sign walked off out the Pentagon building.

Most major U.S. and international outlets—including The New York Times, BBC, and CNN—refused to sign the same restrictions, citing press freedom concerns. The remaining signatories thus largely included smaller or state-linked foreign reporters in addition to several right-wing American media outlets.washingtonpost+1
