Europe in solidarity with Ukraine

Europe declares strongly its support to Ukraine125. The European Union (EU) and its 27 member states have provided unprecedented assistance to Ukraine since the start of Russia’s invasion. This support encompasses several key areas:

Financial Aid

The EU and its member states have made available close to $145 billion in financial, military, humanitarian, and refugee assistance2. In February 2024, European leaders agreed to commit up to $54 billion until 2027 for the Ukraine Facility to support Ukraine’s recovery, reconstruction, and modernization2.

Military Support

Europe has provided close to $53 billion in military assistance, including:

• $6.6 billion from the “European Peace Facility”

• A dedicated Ukraine Assistance Fund worth $5.4 billion

• $2.2 billion for joint procurement and delivery of artillery ammunition

• Training for 73,000 Ukrainian military personnel2

Humanitarian Aid

The EU has coordinated over 4,000 medical evacuations and provided over 154,000 tonnes of in-kind assistance, including medical supplies and power generators2.

Refugee Support

Up to $18 billion from the EU budget has been allocated to support Ukrainian refugees in EU member states2.

Recent Developments

On March 2, 2025, European leaders, Canada, and Turkey met in London to reaffirm their support for Ukraine and discuss further steps to enhance their assistance4. They pledged to continue military support and work towards a permanent peace in Ukraine7.
