The head of HSBC in Turkey is under investigation for insulting president Recep Tayyip Erdogan in a retweet five years ago, as the country’s crackdown on dissent widens. Selim Kervanci, chief executive of the international bank’s Turkish division


The Ministry of Interior has stated that 42,406 social media accounts were investigated and legal action was taken against 18,376 persons in 2018.
