In the north-west of Turkey at least a hundred people tried to lynch a Kurdish family. Eighteen people were wounded,, according to reports in Turkish media on Tuesday. The incident occurred in the province of Sakarya, east of Istanbul. The Kurdish family had come from south-eastern Diyarbakir to earn money in the hazelnut harvesting season.

« La Turquie est le pays des Syriaques et le monastère de Mor Gabriel n?est pas un occupant » C?est avec cet appel que plusieurs centaines personnalités de Turquie lançaient le mois dernier une nouvelle campagne pour soutenir Mor Gabriel, le plus ancien monastère de Turquie toujours « vivant » (3 moines, 11 religieuses et une vingtaine de novices y vivent) et la « seconde Jérusalem » des Chrétiens syriaques. Le site « Nous avons grandi ensemble » (Beraber Büyüdük Bu Ülkede) dont le titre rappelle une chanson populaire (Beraber Yürüldük bu Yollar) chantée en public par le premier ministre Recep Tayyip Erdogan est destiné à recueillir les signatures de la pétition qu?ils ont initiée (près de 15000 signatures à ce jour) . Il est uniquement en turc, mais je conseille même à ceux qui ne comprennent pas cette langue de le visiter. On y trouve de superbes images du monastère.
