Lalihan Akbay, 102, faces a criminal investigation for “making propaganda for a terrorist organization”. She attended a mevlud (a commemorative religious ceremony where the Quran is read) in Tatvan that someone had organized for her son, Mehmet Rauf Akbay, a member of the PKK who died in 1985.
