Freedom of expression is the most important value and institution in a liberal democracy. It is a basic public good. It is for this reason that it must be carefully protected. However, as with other freedoms, there is major confusion about this one.
Horrible events broke out in Turkey’s southern province of Kahramanmaraş, formerly Maraş, 30 years ago. The violent incidents started on Dec. 19, 1978 and could only be stopped by Dec. 26.
We have a serious problem with violence on TV serials.
