Rock band Rage Against The Machine have beaten Joe McElderry to become the UK’s official Christmas number one, following one of the biggest battles in the history of the UK Singles Chart. Their song Killing in the Name pushed the X Factor winner’s new single The Climb into second place.

Thrash Metal’s “Big 4” To Play Together For First Time

The rumors have been swirling for a while, and now a statement on Metallica’s Official Site confirms it: Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax will be playing together for the first time next summer. Here’s part of the statement:

“Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax will all share the same stage for the first time EVER! Look for the four of us at the Sonisphere shows in Warsaw, Poland and Prague, Czech Republic on June 16 and 19, 2010 with a few more of the festival dates still in the works, you can be sure these shows won’t be the only ones.”

The Big Four Announce Another Date

Another European Sonisphere confirmation for The Big Four.

The Big Four of Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax will be joined by Heaven & Hell and Motorhead in Switzerland on June 18th. The date will take place at Degenaupark in Wil/Jonschwil with more Big Four dates expected to be announced in the near future.
