The government managed to transfer the blame to retail companies such as BİM. BİM, the most high-profile one, was seen as a scapegoat as it had been one of the most successful companies in the sector. By blaming BİM for the crisis, the government could deflect attention away from its own policies and decision–making. Pro-government dailies and trolls have been after its CEO for a while. There has even been an attack at a BIM store.
I hear that BİM is owned by one of the powerful Naqsibendi groups, and the latest attack on BİM may result from intra-fighting between religious groups in the government.
