Worker’s Party of Labor organized a meeting in which delegates from all over Turkey attended. It has the potential to mobilize some younger citizens. I believe their energy is good for the Turkish opposition. I have many reservations and I do not believe they can not get more than 1% but they are providing legitimacy for critical rhetorics.
This is a show of force. Major opposition parties met to unite forces. Two of them are derived from AKP. Many in the opposition criticised this meeting on Twitter because it lacked a critical party: pro-Kurdish HDP. I am not critical, yes, it is definitely upsetting but in the current political context, nationalist opposition cannot handle their own grassroots voters critics that may get angry with cooperating with HDP. The latter also know that. Political alliances are sensitive. I do not find this union very radical but that’s why they may succeed to challenge AKP.

A historical moment for Turkey: 6 opposition leaders met for the first time to discuss return to parliamentary system and electoral strategies. As Erdoğan loses ground in the midst of the economic crisis, the opposition is preparing to launch a broad election coalition. pic.twitter.com/OfLUTpljLp
