CPJ report: Turkey is the ‘sixth worst jailer of journalists’ in 2021

The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has released its annual report: “The number of journalists jailed around the world set another record in 2021. Repressive regimes from Asia to Europe to Africa cracked down harshly on the independent press.”


The Committee to Protect Journalists, a press freedom monitoring group, said 293 journalists were behind bars this year, more than a quarter of them in China.
