The taxi lobby maybe powerful than any other political lobbies (!) in İstanbul. They managed to restrict Uber’s operations, and the municipality’s move to increase the number of taxis was prevented and now Istanbulians have to live with the current taxi drivers. There are of course exceptions but most of them are not kind people to live with…

Floods and fires in Turkey: Erdoğan launches fundraising campaign

In the wake of forest fires raging across southern Turkey and amid the floods in the Black Sea, Erdoğan has issued a Presidential decision foreseeing an aid campaign. Several social media users have criticized the move under the hashtag #iban.
According to the data of the Directorate General of Forestry, 3,399 trees burned in Turkey last year. No forest fires were reported in Ağrı, Iğdır and Muş.
