You will see many İmamoğlu photos. I, instead, share here two other persons’ photos. One of them is Canan Kaftancıoğlu, the head of CHP’s Istanbul branch. I could briefly work with her during the presidential election. Because of the intra-party tensions, I believe, she could not perform well enough. However, she was a well organized resilient personality who contributed significantly to opposition’s victory. All the CHP officials and volunteers worked hard to protect election integrity.
Another one is Selahattin Demirtaş, the former head of HDP and currently a political prisoner. His call to Kurdish citizens to vote in favor of Mr. İmamoğlu had played a vital role. Most of the (Turkish) nationalist CHP voters prefer to ignore this fact but this does not obscure Demirtaş’ political savvy.
