For the millions of refugees arriving in Europe, it can be difficult to adjust to new surroundings. A group of refugees in Berlin have banded together to map key resources across the city, including counseling, healthcare, German language lessons, accommodation, legal assistance, police and public transport facilities. Available in English, Farsi and Arabic, the map lists over 250 services that can accommodate Middle Eastern visitors.

The European Parliament voted on Thursday to call on its member states to welcome “human rights defender” Edward Snowden to Europe with open arms.

The member states should “drop any criminal charges against Edward Snowden, grant him protection and consequently prevent extradition or rendition by third parties, in recognition of his status as a whistleblower and international human rights defender,” read the resolution.

The 17-point action plan for countering chaos on the Balkan route agreed on in Brussels on Monday by the affected states continues to elicit strong reactions. The region could be destabilised and human trafficking could increase, some commentators warn. Others point out that the key to solving the refugee crisis lies in Syria.
