My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is probably one of the best/most substantive readers in new media. It provides a historically broader perspective on the emergence of new media. Most of the volumes on the topic rely on buzz and easy-reading mode-. However, this is not an easy reading but in the end gives the reader more insights.
Some of the chapters may annoy some readers as being too pre-new media but in the end one will get the intended perspective in depth perspective. Just two examples: An article on networks. Despite all recent debates, networks had beeen a topical issue way before… Or think of the self-generating computer viruses. That article connects the virus issues to creationism-evolution debates….
