Three New Intangible Cultural Heritage Elements from Turkey
Mavi Boncuk Forty-six new elements added to Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.11 countries, are among the 46 elements inscribed today on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. A UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee, chaired by Jacob Ole Miaron from Kenya and meeting in Nairobi until 19 November, examined and inscribed 46 of the 47 nominations presented.The Committee will continue on 17 November to examine the remaining nomination, Symbolism and craftsmanship of Khachkars, Armenian cross-stones (Armenia).

One in seven Turks works for free
At the end of last week, TurkStat published its labour market data for the third quarter of 2010. The headline numbers continue to improve. While Turkey?s official unemployment rate remains stubbornly high at 11.4 per cent, it is on a clear downward trend. A year ago it was two percentage points higher at 13.4 per cent. (There are some seasonal factors at play in these numbers. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the corresponding figures are 12.0 per cent for the third quarter of 2010 and 14.1 per cent for the same period in 2009.)

Turkish Airlines opens Africa to USA
Fly to USA from Africa with Turkish Airline. Mavi Boncuk Turkish Airline based in Istanbul the capital of Turkey, has announced launching flights to various US destinations from East Africa via Istanbul. The airline office in Kampala, Uganda has declared that Turkish Airline will operate nonstop flights to Washington DC from Istanbul. These new flight routes will also make available convenient connections for flights to Uganda and from. Whereas, other East Africa destination connected with US through Istanbul will include flights to Nairobi in Kenya and Flights to Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.
