(ECtHR) has convicted Turkey for violating the rights of three of the academics who were dismissed and put on trial for signing a 2016 declaration criticizing the government over the conflict in the country’s Kurdish-majority regions.

The Ministry of Industry and Technology has refused to extend the license of
(DW) Türkçe because of “not choosing its field of activity correctly.”
The outlet was notified of the decision on March 7. The license needs to be extended every two years.

“The Güldür Güldür Show,” a popular weekly comedy show in Turkey, often presents sketches and jokes based on current events and contexts. So it was not surprising that after a several-week break due to the devastating earthquake in Turkey’s Southeast provinces, the new episode that aired on Saturday was all about the earthquake. The highlight of the new episode was the speech delivered by the host of the show Ali Sunal. A renowned comedian, who has continued his father, Kemal Sunal‘s legacy as one of the most prominent comedians in Turkish cinematic history.

Turkey’s death toll from the massive earthquakes on February 6 rose to 49,589, the vice president announced on Saturday (March 18).
Some 6,807 of the killed were foreign nationals, Fuat Oktay said at a press conference at the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD). Most of the foreigners killed in the quakes are thought to be refugees.
