Turkish court extends detention of philanthropist Osman Kavala

Kavala’s charges related to Gezi Park protests, 2016 coup attempt could jeopardise Turkey’s Council of Europe
“Prolonging my detention on flimsy grounds is extrajudicial execution. It is an effort to create misperception,” Kavala said at today’s hearing.
Attorneys said the merging of the two cases was against the law. After the court rejected the requests for the separation of the cases, attorneys left the courtroom.
