Erkan's field diary: After 137 weeks!

As Ahmet Turgut says it is hard to believe. Since the beginning of my active support for Beşiktaş it is the very first time I see that Beşiktaş tops the Super League. After one hundred and thirty seven weeks, Beşiktaş JK reached the top position. Now let me hope for the championship!

notes from the last game I had attended:

After a few months, in a cold and snowy afternoon I arrived Beşiktaş square to meet with friends. There were already groups of mostly teenagers gathering next to Kazan Bar and drinking beer. When I was passing through them, I eavesdropped two women talking: "- and these are magandas (yokels)" I turned and smiled at them. I did not have a uniform and I guess she did not guess I was there for the game, too and yeah how can I refute her? They are sort of magandas for sure:)

Usual police ambushes at pot-smoking fan hideouts had not stirred up much. Our fan leader leader Alen Markaryan has been banned from the stadium for six months because of an ongoing investigation of a murdered fan. But nothing surprising here. All bars are full with drinking fans. Minds are already clouded. In such a context two of my 'grandstand mates' are declaring to have a stand against the veiled students if the ban is lifted. We quarrel a little. But not much. At that context we are first of all fans. Probably because of this, another mate whom I suspect a MHP sympathizer prefers to be silent and not to make a scene.

As usual, the game was not fancy. We score an early goal. Then another. Seems to be an easy game. But then the score is 2-2 and it is already 84th minute. Many fans around me did not even see the rival's second goal as they were busy with a new song. Most of had already lost hope and began swearing when our team scored the third goal and we won. It is always like this. Never an easy win. It is always tragedy...
