Showtime! One and a half day to go!
Here comes the time to celebrate the nearing 500,000th visit to Erkan's Field Diary (http://erkansaka.net) blog according to Sitemeter calculations. This is an idea first inspired by a dear friend Nikolia Apostolou. Last year it was only 100,000 visits, now we can think of 500,000. There is not much organization really. The basic purpose is to have enjoyable time. The bar is in Taksim, a place I frequent a lot. Come, drink, dance and get crazy with all of us. It is an open party to all who happened to hit the blog pages in one way or another! It is not the most suitable place but i wanted to let you know at least. A totally unplanned development that had gradually come as a great research and personal help in the field is my blogging activity. I started a blog (Erkan's Field Diary) to register my fieldwork with the help of Prof. Chris Kelty at this address: http://frazer.rice.edu/~erkan/blog/ This blog has had 450,000 visits since June 12, 2005 until the time of writing this report and I was quoted in Financial Times ( January 09, 2006), I was interviewed by a BBC Radio programme twice (28 Nov, 2006 and 23 October 2007) and I was invited to comment in a Newsweek blog ( Dec 15, 2006), interviewed and quoted in PRI's the World; regularly quoted in Global Voices, asked to intervene in Dutch Sargasso and in a WashingtonPost blog etc.![]() |
