Erroneous map in German booklet angers deputies
In a booklet sent to Turkish lawmakers the German Foreign Ministry has depicted Turkey's Thrace region as Greek territory in a map and showed Cyprus as a single-state member of the European Union, angering deputies who have seen it. Republican People's Party (CHP) İzmir deputy Canan Arıtman, who decided to draw attention to these mistakes in Parliament, said in a statement to Today's Zaman: “I hope the mistakes were made inadvertently. Otherwise, it will be seen as an unforgivable error that will disrupt bilateral relations between Turkey and Germany. I will bring the case to Parliament's agenda as soon as possible. I will also ask the Foreign Ministry whether they have any information regarding this case. Their failure to notice such a grave mistake is also unacceptable.”"
