Interview: EU supports Turkey against PKK 'terrorists'

In an interview with EurActiv, EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn gave his support to Turkish military operations against PKK guerrillas on the Iraqi border, saying Brussels understands the government's need to protect its citizens from "continual cross-border terrorist attacks".

The 'Kurdish problem' is our problem - Los Angeles Times

Turkey has a legitimate complaint against the U.S. for not doing more to stop Kurdish terrorists in Iraq. October 22, 2007 The 'Kurdish problem' used to be a Turkish problem, a Syrian problem, an Iranian problem and an Iraqi problem. The U.S. invasion of Iraq has turned it into an American problem -- and lately, a very vexing one."

TURKEY: A KURDISH QUESTION MARK

1d6c0d31d157caac3ebba6e69430b0c6.jpgFor a very long time Turkey has learned to play the card of the country at the crossroads, a country between east and west, between Christians and Muslims, a country between Europe and Asia. Turkey has often been neutral but has been equally often playing the game of both sides also. They are pro-Palestinian and, at the same time, they sign military treaties with Israel. They want to be full members of the EU often using blackmails and opportunistic games…

Yusuf Kanlı: Assessments

Emotions are high. The nation is in deep pain, mourning for the fallen sons. People have taken to the streets, demonstrating their anger all around the country with the separatist terrorists as well as those who have been sheltering, aiding and abetting the gang... Anguish is great and so is the anger, frustration and the demand from the Turkish state to take a firm punitive action “at any cost” against the separatist Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) terrorists, as well as northern Iraqi local leader Massoud Barzani, who is considered an accomplice of the PKK atrocities inside Turkey. Neither Turkey, nor the people demonstrating in the streets of the country believe that the PKK

Is Graham Fuller really out of his mind?

It doesn’t take much brainpower to understand that US-Turkey relations are not “perfectly well.” The two countries, which have been sharing the same “camp” as friends and allies for a little over 50 years, have almost fallen out with each other.

Will cross-border operation end terrorism? (1) by DR. DAVUT ŞAHİNER

Recently opinions have been voiced referring to the cross-border operation as a means to end terrorism.

PKK wants to play by its own rules

The massacre of 12 Turkish soldiers by the separatist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the eastern city of Hakkari on Sunday has traumatized the entire Turkish nation, which was still in shock after losing 13 sons the previous week.

Is it a ‘Kurdish’ or a ‘terrorism’ problem?

It is a widely known fact that the PKK feeds on the “Kurdish problem.”

Cross-border operation

The results of the July 22 elections and the positive atmosphere created by President Abdullah Gül’s visit to the Southeast have given the PKK a scare because it cannot find a place for itself in this peaceful atmosphere.

PKK cannot be fought with arms alone

We often hear from the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) that it is not possible to resolve PKK terrorism through military means alone.

Need for a professional army

A bloodthirsty will, wanting Turkey to resort to butchery, has been utilizing all types of psychological warfare. It threw a “fireball” at everyone’s homes on Sunday morning through TV.

Sunday’s attacks in the headlines

Citizens took to the streets in İstanbul following the massacre of 12 Turkish soldiers by the separatist Kurdistan Workers’ Party militants in the eastern city of Hakkari on Sunday. Carrying Turkish flags and chanting anti-PKK slogans, an angry group of people held a march in İstanbul’s Taksim Square to condemn the terrorist group.

A Personal Reflection on the Armenian Genocide

Is the murder of 6 million Jews 60 years ago worse than the murder of 1.5 million Armenians 92 years ago ?

What about the murder of the unique Son of God 2,000 years ago ?....

The Armenian Genocide and the ripples of guilt that engulf us all.

The arguments that have fluttered of late out of the worlds media outlets, as to whether or not the Turk's committed Genocide in 1915 against the Armenian communities who lived within the borders of the Ottoman Empire, brought Stalin's callous words to mind, "One death is a tragedy; a million is a statistic." Sadly this statement by the grave digger of the Russian revolution is as true today as when he first uttered these words. The Armenian émigré community in the USA, have long been active lobbying members of the United States Congress and Senate on this issue. At every opportunity they have attempted to brand into the consciousness of the American people that the suffering of the Armenian people in 1915 was a conscious act of Genocide, that today's Republic of Turkey must accept responsibility for....
