Democrats, worse than Republicans in US!
27 members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee who are the representatives of American citizens are meddling into a past they have no f***** idea, acting as peons of a genocide industry... Well done dudes, this shows very well that a Democrats-controlled Congress is even worse for Turkey. I hope you can do any good for your own people after making Middle East even messier with your anti-Turkish attitude...
US bill on Armenia moves forward
A bill recognising the "Armenian genocide" clears its first hurdle in Congress despite warnings by Turkey.
Opening Statement by Chairman Lantos at markup of H. Res. 106
by M.A.M
HOUSE FOREIGN AFFAIRS COMMITTEE ADOPTS ARMENIAN GENOCIDE RESOLUTION. With a vote of 27 to 21, the influential panel of the U.S. House of Representatives took a major step toward for full house consideration of the measure. Chairman Lantos unexpectadly [1] votes "Yes'. Yet with the House's first order of business Wednesday, Speaker Nancy Pelosi made clear that Turkey's position was a hard sell. She introduced the Supreme Patriarch of all Armenians, Karekin II, to deliver the morning prayer (what a coincidence!)— a daily ritual intended to be apolitical."With the solemn burden of history, we remember the victims of the genocide of the Armenians," Karekin said in the House. "Give peace and justice on their descendants."
There is a Turkish expression "Olmayacak duaya Amin demek/ Saying Amen for an impossible prayer." This non binding agreement has to cover more ground now and inevitably more members and the public will hear counter arguments from the Turkish side. This is the silver lining. Yet the election demoralized elites in Turkey will use the passage to destabilize the AKP as if their war cries for a military incursion to Iraq was not sufficient enought. Turkey needs cool heads now. And time will show that this will help the Turkish thesis in the long run. Thank you Mr. Lantos.
