As 2010 is by now two days old and the nation holds its breath as new revelations are made about shady underworld networks as well as “official” deep state involvement, with the discovery of the so-called “cosmic rooms” being only one of the topics, I thought it necessary to give column space to some members of Turkey’s younger generation.

2010 may be the year for a ‘new media’

The intense days of 2009 ended with a “grand finale.” Radical changes were announced in Turkey’s powerful media outlet, Doğan, as Hürriyet Editor-in-Chief Ertuğrul Özkök handed in his resignation, and Aydın Doğan, the proprietor of the group of companies active both in and outside the media, announced that he is pulling back into a passive position by resigning as chairman and member of the board of directors.

Google’s Fast Flip adopted by 55 new publications

The Telegraph, Independent and Daily Express are among 55 publications who have joined Google’s Fast Flip experiment, reported the Guardian. Fast Flip displays news stories from different partner publications via screenshots of the articles, which the user can quickly flick through, essentially allowing readers to browse news faster and more visually. It was launched in September with the involvement of 39 publications, most of them US-based.
