Eighteen years ago, in 1993, 33 unarmed conscripts on a bus on its way to military outposts in the southeastern province of Bingöl were killed by outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorists.
After PKK attacks that left 24 soldiers dead, a cross-border operation to Iraq was launched. According to Yüksekova Haber reporter Dara, even though the clashes did not spill into the city centre people in Hakkari are extremely concerned.
