Our friendship with the Republic of Turkey dates back to World War II and since that time Turkish troops have stood shoulder to shoulder with American troops in defense of freedom and justice.

thanks for this news wrap-up. everything aside, the most unacceptable thing for me has been the fact that Turkey had the American defense and arms lobby by its side while lobbying against the resolution. at this point, the numbers, votes, and result (most probably it will not pass at the final stage anyway) do not matter. it is a dirty game. the way Turkey negotiates its position is already casting a shadow on the reliability of its position. Turkey threatens the US by revoking its 7-billion-dolar defense agreement. Why does Turkey has such a big defense agreement with the US in the first place? should we maybe hope that the resolution is passed, this agreement is cancelled, those arms kill less people and consequently we have less conflict and insecurity?
