Yesterday, main opposition MEPs made a scene in the Parliament, of course supported by MHP second biggest opposition party which led to scuffles while debates on the Kurdish Initiative continued. It is unfortunate that these two opposition parties can and may actually stop the process….

The political party that is the natural heir to the values and the democratic political tradition advocated by late Prime Minister Adnan Menderes and the late President Turgut Özal — who are the major cornerstones in Turkey?s transition to the multi-party system, civilization and democracy — is, in my opinion, the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party).

Since a document that shows the Turkish Armed Forces? (TSK) plans to target the ruling party and the Gülen movement was found and shown to be authentic, the majority of people have started to ask whether the government will take any measure against the TSK leadership.

 

MHP convention and the Kurdish initiative

Yesterday the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), which has been in Turkish politics for 40 years, held its ninth party convention, in which its leader, Devlet Bahçeli, was expected to retain his position.
